2006 Tournament Highlights

2006 Tournament Schedule:

NBC RESULTS: We finished 5th in the National Bass Circuit (Potomac Division) standings.  We finished 23rd at the Regional Championship and qualified for the National Championship.  We also ended up 23rd at the National Championship on Lake Norman.  There must be something about that number...

WBT RESULTS: I finished 18th (out of 125) in the Women's Bassmaster Tour.  Only the top 12 go to the Championship.  I was about 7lbs short of 12th place.

**My brother, Gary Schembs, substituted for me in this tournament.  He helped move us up from 8th to 6th place.

***My brother Gary also substituted for me in this tournament... hmmm, our best finishes in the National Bass Circuit came when my brother was substituting for me.  Interesting.

WBT
added 8/28/2006:
Dardanelle was tough.  Short fish seemed to be the story of the tournament.  I didn't get on the water until Tuesday and it rained all day Wednesday, so I only got one good day of practice in.  I (like many of the ladies) caught a lot of fish during the tournament.  Only one of them was long enough on day one.
Day two was a little better.  I had a nice keeper by 8:00 and caught lots of (barely) short fish all day.  At about 2pm, I moved to my second spot and caught two more keepers within 10 minutes.  In hindsight, I should have gone there earlier.  One more keeper would have landed me in the top 6.  I won $1,300.

added 5/31/2006:
Although I finished 61st at Lake Lewisville (the second stop on the Women's Bassmaster Tour), I am still in the top 50.  I'm currently 32nd in the standings.  Lake Norman is next in July.  I'm looking forward to figuring that lake out!

added 4/28/2006:
I was very happy with my performance at the first WBT event.  I had never fished that lake before and figured out a strong pattern over 3 days of practice.  I finished 22nd out of 103 boats and won $800.

National Bass Circuit
added 8/28//2006:
Since I was in Arkansas, fishing the WBT event, my brother substituted for me again.  Looks like I was lucky.  The wind made the ride back miserable for everybody.  The cover on my brother's outboard was knocked loose and everybody at the weigh-in was talking about how bad the ride was.  The guys weighed in a nice bag- over 11 pounds.

added 8/20/2006:
It looks like consistency is more important than I thought.  We finished 31st and moved UP in the standings.  We're in 5th now with one more tournament to go for the year.  We caught a limit, but we weren't able to pick up any good ones.

added 8/10/2006:
Although we brought in a small limit, we were able to maintain our place in the standings.  Only 2 more tournaments left in this tour.

added 7/23/2006:
We caught 5 fish, but couldn't get any good ones.  We got bumped down to 9th place in the standings
.

On Sunday, June 25th, I fished a singles tournament.  I won $325 for 1st place and big fish.  I made it into the local paper - http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2006/062006/06292006/202082
